A .ART50 file is a BERNINA ARTlink 5 Embroidery File, created by BERNINA.

Open with BERNINA ARTlink. Available for Windows.

What is a .ART50 file?

An .ART50 file is a type of embroidery design file specifically created by BERNINA ARTlink software, starting from version 5 onwards. This file contains all the necessary details for an embroidery design, such as the outlines of the design's shapes, the types of stitches to be used, the colors of the threads, a small preview image of the design, and additional information about the design.

To open and work with an .ART50 file, you need to use BERNINA ARTlink, which is an application designed for creating and editing embroidery designs. This software allows users to open these files, make any desired changes or adjustments to the design, and then save the work.

Once you have finalized your embroidery design in BERNINA ARTlink, you can prepare it for actual embroidery on fabric. This involves exporting the design from the ARTlink software into a file format that your specific embroidery machine can read. BERNINA ARTlink supports exporting designs into several different embroidery file formats such as .ART, .EXP, .PES, .JEF, .SEW, .PEC, .VP3, .VIP, .HUS, and .SHV.

Here’s how you can export your design: 1. In BERNINA ARTlink, go to the File menu and select "Export Machine File..." 2. Choose the appropriate file format that matches your embroidery machine’s requirements.

After exporting the design, you need to transfer it to your embroidery machine. This is typically done by saving the exported file onto a USB drive. Plug the USB drive into your computer, and use the File Explorer (on Windows) or Finder (on macOS) to move the exported file onto the USB drive. Once the file is on the USB drive, safely eject the drive from your computer.

Finally, plug the USB drive into your embroidery machine. From there, you can load the design file from the USB drive into your machine’s memory and start the embroidery process on your chosen piece of fabric.

It’s important to note that each version of BERNINA ARTlink saves files with a different extension that corresponds to the version number of the software. For instance, ARTlink 6 uses .ART60, and ARTlink 7 uses .ART70, indicating the version of the software used to create the file.
