What is a .DWL file?

This happens when a drawing file, which usually has the extension .TCW, is open in TurboCAD. The lock file (.DWL) helps to ensure that no more than one user or process can access the drawing file at the same time. This is important because if multiple users or processes try to modify the drawing simultaneously, it could lead to the file being damaged or corrupted.
The .DWL files are created automatically by TurboCAD as soon as a drawing file (.TCW) is opened. They serve as a signal that the file is currently in use. Once the drawing file is closed, TurboCAD automatically deletes the .DWL file. This deletion is a sign that the drawing file is no longer being edited and is now available for others to open and modify if needed.
To open a .DWL file, you would typically use IMSI TurboCAD Pro, which is the program that creates and uses these files. However, there is generally no need to manually open a .DWL file since it is just a lock file and does not contain user-editable content. Instead, focus on opening the corresponding .TCW file (the actual drawing file) with TurboCAD Pro to access and edit the design.
