What is a .GHB file?

A .GHB file is a special type of file used in the Lego Racers video game. Lego Racers is a game where players race cars made out of Lego pieces on different tracks. The game was made for computers and some game consoles back in 1999. In the game, there are different ways to race, and one of them is called "Time Race" mode. This is where the .GHB file comes into play.

The .GHB file keeps track of a race that has already been done. It records where the race car started and the exact route it took during the race. This route is known as the "ghost path" because when you race against it, you see a ghost-like car showing the path of the previous race. It's like racing against a shadow of a car from the past. This helps players try to beat their own or others' best times by racing against these ghost paths.

To see these ghost paths, the game uses the .GHB files. These files are saved automatically when someone completes a time trial race. They are stored in a special folder within the game's files, but they are not in the folders for the test track or the final race track because those tracks don't have time trials.

If you're curious and want to look at these .GHB files or even use them in a different way, you would need to find them in the game's files. They are packed inside something called the LEGO.jam archive, which is like a big box holding many files together. To get to them, you would need a tool that can open this box, known as a JAM extractor.

However, it's important to note that Lego Racers, the game that uses these .GHB files, is quite old and isn't officially available to download anymore. But if you have the game, you can explore these ghost paths by playing in Time Race mode or by digging into the game's files with the right tools.
