What is a .OVX file?

An OVX file is a special kind of data file that was used to create programs for Psion electronic devices. These devices include models like the Netpad, Workabout, and MC 400. The OVX file contains code written in a programming language called Object-based Visual Application Language, or OVAL for short. This language is quite similar to Visual Basic, which is a more commonly known programming language. However, OVX files and the devices they were made for are no longer in use today. This is because Psion, the company that made these devices, was bought by another company called Motorola in 2012, and they decided to stop making Psion devices. As a result, the OVAL programming language used to create OVX files is also no longer supported.

In the past, there was a program called OVAL that could open and work with OVX files. This program provided a development environment similar to the ones used for other programming languages, allowing developers to write, edit, and test their applications. Unfortunately, this program is also no longer available, making it very difficult to work with OVX files today.

If you happen to have an OVX file and want to open it, you would have needed the OVAL program. But since it's no longer available, opening an OVX file could be quite challenging. There might be some specialized or legacy software tools out there that can still open OVX files, but finding them would require some research and they might not be easy to use without some technical knowledge.
