.PFM File Extension

A .PFM file is a Printer Font Metrics File, created by Adobe Systems.

Open with Microsoft Windows Font Viewer (Included with OS). Available for Windows.

What is a .PFM file?

The .PFM file extension stands for Printer Font Metrics File. This type of file is used by the Microsoft Windows operating system and is associated with Adobe Type 1 fonts. A .PFM file contains important information about the measurements and layout of characters within a font. However, it does not include the actual shapes or designs of the characters, known as glyphs. To display the font correctly, a .PFM file must be used together with a .PFB file, which contains the glyph data.

To use these font files on a Windows computer, you need both the .PFM and the .PFB files. Here’s how you can install these files on a Windows 7 system: 1. Copy both the .PFM and .PFB files to the directory C:\Windows\Fonts. 2. Right-click on the .PFM file within this directory. 3. Select "Install" from the context menu that appears.

After installation, you can view the font using the Microsoft Windows Font Viewer. This tool is built into Windows and can be accessed by: - Navigating to the C:\Windows\Fonts directory using Windows Explorer. - Typing "font" in the search box of the Windows Start menu, then clicking "View installed fonts" in the search results.

It’s important to note that if the .PFB file is not located in the same directory as the .PFM file, you might find it in the \PSFONTS folder, while the .PFM file might be in the \PSFONTS\PFM folder. Make sure both files are in the same directory before installing.
