What is a .PVT file?
A .PVT file is essentially a Live Photo taken with an iPhone's Camera app. Normally, these photos are saved with a .HEIC extension, which stands for High Efficiency Image File Format. However, sometimes when you share these Live Photos using Apple AirDrop or other image-sharing services, the file extension might be changed to .PVT. This renaming usually happens by mistake and can cause confusion when trying to view the photo on different devices.
To view a .PVT file, you will need to first correct the file extension. You can do this by renaming the file from .pvt to .heic. This change tells your computer or device that the file is an image in the HEIC format, which is recognized by many photo viewers.
