What is a .QBK file?

It's important to note that in 2011, the name QuickTax was changed to TurboTax, but both names refer to the same program. If you ever need to use your backup file because your original tax return file isn't working, you can change the name of the .QBK file to end with .Q08 or .Q09, depending on which year's tax return you're dealing with. After renaming the file, you can then open it as usual.
By default, when QuickTax or TurboTax saves a .QBK file, it places it in a specific folder on your computer. This folder is usually found in the "Documents and Settings" area, under "User," then "My Documents," followed by "QuickTax," and finally in a folder named for the specific year, like "2008" or "2009." The path looks something like this: Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\QuickTax\2xxx, where "xxx" represents the year.
