.QC File Extension

A .QC file is a Half-Life Model Compiler Script, created by id Software.

Open with id Software Quake. Available for Windows.

What is a .QC file?

The .QC file extension is used for a type of file called a Half-Life Model Compiler Script. These files are written in a special programming language known as QuakeC. QuakeC was first used in the video game Quake, a popular first-person shooter game. The language is quite similar to the C programming language and is used to create or modify parts of video games, like how the game characters behave (this is called artificial intelligence) and other game features.

To open a .QC file, you can use several programs. One of them is the game Quake itself, made by a company called id Software. Since .QC files are essentially text files, you can also open them with simple text editing programs like Microsoft Notepad, which comes with Windows, or any other text editor you prefer to use.

More about .QC files: After the game Quake was released, the developers shared a tool called qcc. This tool is a compiler, which means it takes the code written in QuakeC (inside the .QC files) and turns it into a form that the game can understand and use. Over time, people made new compilers that could do more things with QuakeC, adding new features to what game developers could do with the language.
