.SAFE File Extension

A .SAFE file is a SIGLock Encrypted File, created by Sigza Authentication Systems.

Open with Sigza SIGLock (Discontinued). Available for Windows.

What is a .SAFE file?

A .SAFE file is a type of encrypted file that is created using SIGLock, which is a software program designed for Windows computers. This program is used to protect files by encrypting them, which means it converts the files into a secure format that can only be read or accessed by certain people with the right tools or passwords. The .SAFE file contains a locked version of an original file, like a .PDF or .XLSX document. This file is encrypted so that only people with the SIGLock program can open it.

The .SAFE file also includes information about who is allowed to open the file, where it can be opened, and when it can be opened. This helps in controlling the access to sensitive information.

To create a .SAFE file, you would use the SIGLock program. Here’s how you can do it: 1. Open SIGLock and choose the option to lock a file. 2. Select the file you want to encrypt by navigating to it and clicking 'Open'. 3. Set the conditions under which the file can be unlocked, such as who can unlock it or when it can be unlocked. 4. Click on 'Lock' to encrypt the file. You can also choose 'Lock and Send' if you want to send the encrypted file to someone else. 5. Name the encrypted file, choose where you want to save it, and then click 'Save' followed by 'OK'. 6. The original file extension (like .DOCX or .PPTX) will change to .SAFE.

Alternatively, you can right-click on the file you want to encrypt and select the option to create a SigLock File directly from the context menu.

It’s important to note that SIGLock, the program used to create and open .SAFE files, is no longer being developed. This means there are no new updates or support available for this software. Previously, SIGLock used the .SGZ file extension for encrypted files before switching to the .SAFE extension.
