What is a .TKR file?
A .TKR file is a special kind of computer file used by a game called Tinker. Tinker is a fun, free game made by Microsoft Games where you help a robot named Tinker solve puzzles. The .TKR file keeps all the information for a game level, like where things are placed in the game and how long you have to finish the level. These files can hold levels that come with the game or levels that players have made themselves.
To open a .TKR file, you need to have the Tinker game. However, it's important to know that you can't get this game just anywhere because Microsoft stopped offering it. It was originally given away with a version of Windows called Windows Vista Ultimate, and later it was available through something called the Microsoft Games for Windows Marketplace. If you have Windows 7, you can only get Tinker through the Microsoft Games for Windows Marketplace.
Inside Tinker, the levels are made up of different objects and challenges. The .TKR files keep track of where everything is supposed to go and how the level works. There are two main versions of Tinker. One came with Windows Vista Ultimate Extras, and the other could be gotten from the Microsoft Games for Windows Marketplace.
If you're feeling creative and have the Windows Vista Ultimate version of Tinker, you can make your own levels using a special tool called the Tinker Editor, made by Fuel Games. This editor lets you design new puzzles and challenges for Tinker to solve. But remember, this editor only works with the version of Tinker that came with Windows Vista Ultimate Extras, not the other version from the Microsoft Games for Windows Marketplace.
