What is a .AD file?
The .AD file extension is used for screensavers created by the After Dark program. A screensaver is a type of computer program that starts automatically when the computer has not been used for a set period. The After Dark screensaver includes various animations, like Flying Toasters and Bad Dog, which appear on your screen when your computer is idle. These animations are stored in files with the .AD extension.
To open and use these .AD screensaver files, you need the After Dark software. The original After Dark program was developed by Berkeley Systems, and there's also a newer version called Berkeley Systems After Dark X (ADX). Both of these programs can open .AD files, allowing you to enjoy the animations as your screensaver when your computer is not in use.
