What is a .AGP file?
The .AGP file extension is used for a type of file known as an ArtGem Project File. These files are created by a program called ArtGem, which is a software tool used for digital painting and image editing. The .AGP files are special because they can store images in a way that allows you to work with different layers, similar to how you can in Adobe Photoshop. This means you can edit parts of your image separately without affecting the whole picture, which is very useful for artists and graphic designers.
ArtGem is known for having a simpler interface compared to more complex programs like Photoshop, making it easier for beginners to use. Despite its simplicity, it still offers a good range of features. These include various paint tools for drawing and coloring, selection tools for choosing specific parts of your image to work on, the ability to undo multiple actions if you make a mistake, and filters to add special effects to your images.
If you have an .AGP file, you can open it using the RL Vision ArtGem software. However, it's important to note that ArtGem was only sold from 1999 to 2002. The program was offered as shareware, which means people could try it for free and then pay a fee to register it if they liked it. Unfortunately, not enough people registered their copies, so the development and sale of ArtGem were discontinued. This means that while you can still use ArtGem to open .AGP files if you already have the program, getting a new copy of the software might be difficult since it's no longer officially available or supported.
