What is a .ALDF file?
An .ALDF file is a type of file specifically used for storing genealogy information, which includes details about a person's family history. This file is created by a software called Aldfaer, which is a free program available for Windows computers. Aldfaer helps users organize and view various details about family history, such as information about a person's parents, marriages, siblings, children, as well as notes on family events and photos.
The .ALDF file serves as the main project file when using Aldfaer. This means that when you work on a genealogy project in Aldfaer, all the information you input is saved into an .ALDF file. This file can be opened and edited anytime you use Aldfaer.
Additionally, Aldfaer has capabilities to import and export data to and from other genealogy file formats, such as the .GED file format, which is a common format used by various genealogy programs and follows the GEDCOM standard.
To open an .ALDF file, you will need to have the Aldfaer program installed on your Windows computer. Once installed, you can open Aldfaer, and from there, open the .ALDF file to view or edit your genealogy data.
