What is a .CARC file?
A .CARC file is a type of file used by some Nintendo video games, especially those made for the Nintendo DS and a few for the Wii, like Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. This file is actually a compressed version of another file type called .NARC. The main reason these CARC files exist is to make the game data smaller, which helps the games run better because they need less space.
Inside a CARC file, you might find different kinds of game information such as the graphics (which are the pictures and animations you see in the game), level information (which tells the game what each part of the game world looks like and how it works), and other important data that the game needs to function.
To open a .CARC file, you can use programs like NarcTool or Tahaxan. These programs are special because they can work with files from Nintendo DS games. If you have a .CARC file, you can use these programs to take the file out of a .NDS file, which is the main file for a Nintendo DS game. Once you've taken the .CARC file out, you can then use these programs to turn it back into a .NARC file. When it's back to being a .NARC file, you can use other tools, like Narc Explorer, to look inside the file and even change things if you need to.
It's interesting to note that even though .CARC files are not very common in Wii games, they are still used in some popular ones. This shows that the way these files are used can vary from one game to another.
