What is a .CART file?

A .CART file is a special type of file that is used by people who buy and sell LEGO pieces on a website called BrickLink. BrickLink is a place on the internet where people can find almost any LEGO piece they need, from tiny bricks to big sets. When someone decides they want to buy several LEGO pieces from different sellers on BrickLink, they can save a list of everything they want to buy. This list includes the names of the stores where they found the pieces and the specific LEGO pieces or sets they plan to buy from each store. This list is what is saved as a .CART file.

The purpose of a .CART file is to make shopping easier. If you have a .CART file, you don't have to remember or write down all the pieces you want to buy and where you found them. Instead, you can just upload this file back to BrickLink, and it will automatically add all the items from the file into your shopping cart on the website. This saves a lot of time, especially if you are planning to buy a lot of different pieces from different sellers.

To open a .CART file, you need to use the BrickLink website. There isn't a program you download to your computer or a mobile app specifically for opening .CART files. Instead, you go to the BrickLink website on the internet using any web browser, like Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. Once you're logged into your BrickLink account, you look for the option to import a .CART file. When you find it, you select the .CART file from your computer, and the website will open it for you, adding all the items listed in the file to your shopping cart on BrickLink. This way, you can easily buy all the LEGO pieces you have planned without having to add them to your cart one by one.
