What is a .CDDA file?
The file extension .CDDA stands for CD Digital Audio File. This type of file contains audio data that has been copied, or "ripped," from an audio CD. The audio in these files follows a specific format known as the CD Digital Audio specification, which is a standard used for CDs to ensure they play correctly on all CD players and computers.
To create a .CDDA file, you can use software applications that can extract audio from CDs. Examples of such applications include iTunes and Logic Pro. Although iTunes has been discontinued and replaced by other music apps in newer operating systems, it was widely used for ripping CDs to .CDDA files. Logic Pro, which is still available, also supports this function and offers additional music production features.
Once you have a .CDDA file, you can use it to save the audio data on your computer. This is useful if you want to keep a digital copy of your CD music. Additionally, these files can be used to burn new CDs, allowing you to create copies of your original CD using the audio data stored in the .CDDA files.
To open a .CDDA file, you can use Apple Logic Pro. Although iTunes and Logic Express could also open these files, they have been discontinued. If you are using a system that still supports these programs, they can still be used to access and manage .CDDA files.
