What is a .CURSORFX file?
The .CURSORFX file extension refers to a CursorFX Theme File, which is used by the CursorFX program, previously known as CursorXP. This type of file includes various elements that enhance and personalize the appearance and behavior of a computer mouse cursor. Specifically, a .CURSORFX file contains graphics for the cursor, special effects, and trails that follow the cursor as it moves. These graphics are often stored in .PNG format within the file.
Additionally, the file includes settings for different mouse events (like clicking or scrolling) and preferences for cursor movement. To keep the file size manageable, it is saved in a compressed format. This means it takes up less space on your computer.
CursorFX is the main program used to open and edit .CURSORFX files. Within the CursorFX software, there are specific sections where you can access only the effects or only the trails included in these files. These are organized in the Effects list and the Trails list respectively in the CursorFX Control Panel.
It's important to note that while CursorFX is the updated version of CursorXP, it still supports opening the older .CURXPTHEME files from CursorXP. However, once these files are opened in CursorFX, they can only be saved in the newer .CURSORFX format, not back to the older format.
