.DDE File Extension

A .DDE file is a Lingvo Dictionary Error Log File, created by ABBYY.

Open with Any text editor. Available for Linux, Windows, and Mac.

What is a .DDE file?

The .DDE file is a type of document that is made by a program called Lingvo Dictionary. This program helps people find the meanings of words and translate them into different languages. When someone uses Lingvo Dictionary to make their own dictionary file, sometimes mistakes can happen. The .DDE file keeps a record of these mistakes, like errors or warnings, that come up when the dictionary file is being put together.

To open a .DDE file, you can use any program that lets you look at or edit text. This means programs like Notepad on Windows, TextEdit on Mac, or any other basic text editor you have on your computer.

If you're making a dictionary file, which ends in .DSL, and you want to turn it into a format that Lingvo Dictionary can use, like .LSD, you start by writing your dictionary in a simple text file (.TXT) with the right format. Then, you change the name of your file from .txt to .dsl. After that, you use a special tool that comes with Lingvo Dictionary, called the DSL Compiler, to create your dictionary file. If you tell the compiler to make an error log file (.DDE) before you start, it will make a .DDE file with the same name as your .DSL file. This .DDE file will tell you if there were any problems making your dictionary.

It's important to know that the company ABBYY, which made Lingvo Dictionary, isn't updating the software anymore. But if you already have it, you can still use it to make and check your own dictionaries.
