What is a .DMSP file?
The .DMSP file extension is used for a type of file called a PhotoSuite Project File. This kind of file is made by a program named Roxio PhotoSuite. Roxio PhotoSuite is a software tool that people use to make things like cards and posters using pictures they have taken with their cameras or found online. When you create a project in Roxio PhotoSuite, such as designing a birthday card or a poster, and you save your work, it gets saved as a .DMSP file.
Inside a .DMSP file, there's a lot of different information. This includes the digital photos you've chosen to use in your project, any text you've added (like a greeting or a quote), overlays (which are images or designs you put on top of your photos), and effects (special changes to your photos to make them look a certain way, like making them black and white or blurry). All of these elements are saved in the .DMSP file so that you can close the program and come back to your project later, opening the file to pick up right where you left off.
If you have a .DMSP file that you want to open and work on, you'll need the right program to do it. Roxio PhotoSuite used to be a standalone program, but it's not sold by itself anymore. Instead, it's now part of a bigger package of software called Roxio Creator NXT Pro 9. Roxio Creator is a collection of tools for doing a bunch of different multimedia tasks, like editing videos, burning DVDs, and, of course, creating and editing photo projects with PhotoSuite. So, if you have Roxio Creator NXT Pro 9 installed on your computer, you can use it to open and work on .DMSP files.
