What is a .ENZ file?
The .ENZ file extension is used for a type of file called an EndNote Connection File. This file is important for people who use EndNote, which is a program designed to help with organizing references for research papers and creating bibliographies. The .ENZ file contains information that allows EndNote to connect to online databases of citations. This means that when you use EndNote, you can download references directly into your EndNote library, which is saved as .ENL files, making it easier to manage your research sources.
To open a .ENZ file, you need to use the Clarivate EndNote program. This is the only program that can properly read and use the information contained in these files. If you're using EndNote and want to see or manage your list of .ENZ connection files, you can do so by going to the Edit menu, then selecting Connection Files, and finally clicking on Open Connection Manager. This will show you all the connection files you have.
When you install EndNote on your computer, it usually comes with a number of .ENZ files already included. These files are stored in a specific folder within the EndNote installation directory, typically found under EndNote\Connections.
It's worth noting that the company behind EndNote, Clarivate, was not always the developer. The software was previously developed by Thomson Reuters. This is just a bit of background information and doesn't affect how you use .ENZ files with EndNote.
