What is a .EVENT file?
An .EVENT file is a special kind of file that you won't usually see because it's hidden. It's made by some programs from a company called Corel, like Video Studio and a program they don't make anymore called PaintShop Photo Express. When you use these Corel programs to organize or look through your folders, especially ones with pictures or videos, the program puts an .EVENT file in those folders.
Think of an .EVENT file as a little note the program leaves for itself. This note keeps track of any changes you make to the folder, like if you add new pictures or delete some. It's a way for the program to remember what's happened in that folder since the last time it checked.
If you're using Corel VideoStudio 2023, you can open and work with these .EVENT files. But, you don't really need to open them yourself because they're just for the Corel programs to use.
Even though you might be tempted to delete these .EVENT files because you can't open them and they seem unnecessary, it's not a big deal if you do. The thing is, next time you use the Corel program and it looks through that folder again, it will just make a new .EVENT file. So, they'll come back.
The name of an .EVENT file is usually the same as the folder it's in but with ".event" at the end. For example, if you have a folder full of pictures called "pictures," the .EVENT file in that folder would be named "pictures.event" and it would be hidden from view unless you have your computer set to show hidden files.
