What is a .FLK file?
An FLK file is a special kind of file that is used by a program called AccountEdge Pro. This program helps people manage their business's money and accounts. The FLK file is created to help keep things organized and safe when more than one person needs to look at or change the same business file, which is usually a .MYO file.
Think of the FLK file like a lock on a door. When someone is working on the business file, the FLK file locks it so no one else can make changes at the same time. This helps prevent any mix-ups or problems that could happen if more than one person tries to change the file at once.
You can open and work with FLK files using the AccountEdge Pro software by Acclivity. This is the main program that knows how to handle these types of files properly.
Here's how it works: When someone starts working on the business file in AccountEdge, an FLK file appears in the same folder as the business file. This FLK file means that the business file is currently being used. Once the person is done and closes the file, the FLK file should disappear on its own, unlocking the file for others to use.
However, sometimes things don't go as planned. For example, if the program closes suddenly or there's a computer problem, the FLK file might not get deleted. If you see an FLK file but no one is using the business file, it's safe to delete the FLK file yourself. This will remove the lock and allow people to access the business file again.
