What is a .FLP file?
An FLP file is a type of file that you create when you use FL Studio. FL Studio is a program that lets people make their own music by putting together different sounds, recording, and changing how the music sounds. When you make a project in FL Studio, everything you do in that project, like the music you add and any special effects you use, gets saved into an FLP file. This means if you want to go back and work on your music later, you can open this FLP file and everything will be just like you left it.
You can open FLP files with a few different programs. The main one is FL Studio itself, which is made by a company called Image-Line. Another program that can open FLP files is LMMS, which stands for Linux MultiMedia Studio. LMMS is a free program that lets you make music, and it can work with FLP files too.
There's something interesting to know if you also use a program called ActivInspire, made by Promethean. ActivInspire usually works with files that end in .FLIPCHART, but it can also open FLP files. However, if you have FL Studio and ActivInspire on the same computer, sometimes the computer might get confused and think FLP files are for FL Studio when you actually want to open them in ActivInspire. If this happens, you can still open your FLP files in ActivInspire by going to the menu and choosing File → Open.
So, in simple terms, an FLP file is like a box where FL Studio keeps all the parts of your music project safe and sound, so you can come back and work on it anytime you want. And even though FL Studio is the main program for opening these files, there are other programs like LMMS and ActivInspire that can open them too, in case you need that.
