What is a .FMAT file?
The .FMAT file extension is used for a type of file called an FMAT Runfile. This file is created by a special instrument known as the FMAT 8100 HTS System. This system is designed to study and analyze data related to fluorescence, which is a way of measuring light emitted by certain substances when they are exposed to light. The FMAT Runfile contains important information that the FMAT software needs in order to find other folders and files that are connected to a specific experiment or test run.
To create an FMAT Runfile, you would use the FMAT 8100 HTS System software. Here's how you do it in simple steps: 1. In the software, you go to the File menu and choose "New Run." 2. A window called "Create New Run" will pop up. Here, you can make choices about your experiment, like what kind of test you're doing or how you want to arrange your test plates. 3. After you've made your choices, you give your run a name. This name will also be the name of your FMAT file. 4. Then, you make sure to select "FMAT Run files" in the "Files of type" menu. This tells the software what kind of file you're creating. 5. Finally, you click "Create," and your FMAT Runfile is made.
If you want to open an existing FMAT Runfile, you do something similar: 1. Go to the File menu and choose "Open Run." 2. Look for the file by selecting the right folder in the "Look in" menu. 3. Click on the FMAT file you want to open and then click "Open." It's important to remember not to move the FMAT Runfile after you've created it. If you do, the FMAT software might not be able to find the other files and folders that are linked to your experiment. This could make it impossible to view or analyze your data properly.
Unfortunately, the FMAT 8100 HTS System software has been discontinued, which means it's no longer being updated or sold. However, if you already have the software, you can still use it to open and create FMAT Runfiles.
