What is a .FRD file?

This kind of file is created by a program called SPL Tracer, which is used to measure and graph how a speaker reacts to various sounds, including details like how loud the speaker can get and how it handles different tones. These files are quite similar to another type called .ZMA files, but they focus on specific data like the frequency and phase (the timing of sound waves) that are important for designing speaker drivers.
To use a .FRD file, you can open it with a few different programs. One of these is Room EQ Wizard, which is a tool for improving the sound quality in a room by analyzing speaker outputs and suggesting adjustments. Another program that can open .FRD files is Audua Speaker Workshop, although it's important to note that both SPL Tracer and Audua Speaker Workshop are not available anymore.
If you have the Speaker Workshop program, which is designed to help users create and test their own loudspeakers on older Windows computers (like Windows 95, 98, XP, and 2000), you can import .FRD files into your projects. To do this, you would go to the "Resource" menu, choose "Import...", or right-click on the "Project Tree" section and select "Import..." from there. Then, you find the .FRD file you want to work with and open it. This process lets you use the frequency response data in the file to help design or improve loudspeakers.
