What is a .GMZ file?
A .GMZ file is a type of file that is used with a program called YoYo Games GameMaker: Studio. This program is made for people who want to create their own video games. The .GMZ file is special because it holds everything someone has made for their game, but it's all squished together to make it easier to share with others. Inside this file, you can find things like the game's code (which are like the game's instructions), pictures and animations for the game, sounds, and much more.
To make a .GMZ file, someone using GameMaker: Studio would go to the top menu, click on "File," then choose "Export Project." They would then make sure the file name and where it's going to be saved are correct before clicking "Save." This squishes everything into one .GMZ file.
If someone has a .GMZ file and they want to see or change what's inside, they would open GameMaker: Studio, go to "File" in the top menu, but this time choose "Import Project..." Then, they find the .GMZ file they want to work on and open it. This unpacks everything so they can work on the game.
