What is a .GPRX file?

It is created by a software called Geoxa, which is used for visualizing different places on the earth's surface in a detailed way. This file keeps track of how a certain area is laid out or arranged, which can include things like roads, rivers, and buildings.
The cool thing about .GPRX files is that they can work with a bunch of other file types that also contain geographic information. For example, they can include data from ESRI shapefiles (.SHP), which are commonly used to store the location, shape, and attributes of geographic features. They can also include MrSid (.SID) files, which are a type of compressed image perfect for storing high-resolution maps, and GeoTIFF (.TIF) files, which are a form of TIFF files that contain extra information for georeferencing (this means they can connect the image to specific geographic locations).
To open a .GPRX file, you can use two specific programs made by Creative GIS Solutions: the Geoxa Viewer and the Geoxa Editor. The Viewer lets you look at the contents of the file, while the Editor allows you to make changes to the project.
Inside a .GPRX file, the information is saved in XML format. This is a way of encoding data in a file that both humans and machines can read. The file doesn't just store the visual layout; it also includes references to the shapes and geographic details it represents. This can cover a wide range of information, like legends (which explain the symbols used on the map) and points of interest (specific places that might be important or interesting to someone looking at the map).
