What is a .IFICTION file?
An .IFICTION file is a special type of file that is used with text adventure games. These games are like interactive stories where you can make choices that affect what happens. The .IFICTION file contains important details about the game, but it doesn't have the game itself. Instead, it has information such as when the game was made, who made it (the author), the name of the game, a short description or headline, what language the game is in, the type of game it is (like a puzzle or adventure), and other details that help describe and identify the game.
To work with these .IFICTION files, you need a program called Zoom. Zoom is like a special reader or player for text adventure games. It can open and read the .IFICTION files to show you all the metadata - the information about the game that's stored in the file.
If you want to create your own .IFICTION file, maybe because you're making a text adventure game, you can do this in Zoom. Here's how: 1. In Zoom, go to the File menu at the top. 2. Choose "Save Metadata..." from the options. 3. A window will pop up asking you to name your file and decide where on your computer you want to save it. 4. After you've named it and picked a location, click the "Save" button.
And if you've got an .IFICTION file that you want to open to see the game's metadata, you do this: 1. Open Zoom. 2. Go to the Story menu. 3. Choose "Story Information" from the options.
This will open the .IFICTION file, and you'll be able to see all the details about the game that the file contains.
