What is a .INM file?
An INM file is a type of document that was specifically made to be used with a program called Caere FaxMaster. This program was designed to work on Windows computers and had two main functions: it could send and receive faxes, and it could also convert images and scanned documents into text using a technology called OCR, which stands for Optical Character Recognition. This was quite useful back in the day because it allowed people to easily share documents over the phone line and also digitize paper documents.
However, Caere, the company that made FaxMaster, decided to stop making this software in the early 1990s. This means that the program is no longer available, and because technology has moved on a lot since then, with most people no longer using faxes to send documents, files that end in .INM are now very rare.
Since the original program, Caere FaxMaster, is discontinued, it can be very difficult to find a way to open INM files. There aren't many modern programs that can open or work with these files because the technology is considered outdated. If you have an INM file that you need to open, you might have to look for very specific, possibly old software that can handle this file type, or seek out conversion services that can convert the file into a more current format.
