What is a .ISN file?
An .ISN file is a special type of file that is used when creating a setup or installation program for Windows software. This means that when developers make a program that you can install on your computer, they might use an .ISN file to help put everything together. InstallShield, which is a tool made by a company called Flexera, uses these .ISN files. Inside an .ISN file, there's a list that shows all the different parts (like files and folders) that need to be added to your computer when you install a program. It also tells the computer the specific order to add these parts and where they should go on your computer. This helps make sure that the software installs correctly and works the way it's supposed to.
If you ever need to open an .ISN file, you would use a program called Flexera InstallShield. This program understands how to read the .ISN file and use the information inside it to either create or update an installer for a Windows program.
It's also interesting to know that the company that makes InstallShield, Flexera, used to have a different name. They were called Acresso before they changed their name to Flexera in October 2009.
