What is a .JBG file?
The .JBG file is a type of image file known as a Joint Bi-level Image Group File. This format is special because it's designed to store different kinds of pictures, including those that are just black and white, have shades of gray, or are full color. What makes .JBG files stand out is their use of a special way to make the file sizes smaller without losing any quality. This method is better than some other common ways used in the past, like the ones called CCITT Group 3 (G3) or CCITT Group 4 (G4) compression.
To open a .JBG file, you can use several programs. Some of these are Newera Graphics Converter Pro, XnViewMP, and ToyViewer. These programs help you view or convert the .JBG images into other formats if needed.
The .JBG format, also known as JBIG1, was originally created to make it easier and more efficient to send images over fax by compressing them without losing quality. This was particularly useful for sending documents or images that only needed black and white colors. Later on, a new version called JBIG2 (.JB2 files) was developed to do an even better job at compressing these types of images.
It's also worth noting that images saved in the JBIG format might also have a .JBIG file extension, which is just another way to name these files.
