What is a .KWZ file?
A .KWZ file is a special kind of 3D animation file that is made using a program called Flipnote Studio 3D. This program is a fun and free app that you can get on the Nintendo 3DS, which is a handheld gaming console. When you create an animation in Flipnote Studio 3D, you're making a mini-movie that moves by quickly changing between many different pictures, or "frames," just like a flipbook you might make on the corner of a notebook.
In these animations, you can draw on three different layers. This is a bit like having three transparent sheets you can draw on separately and then stack on top of each other to make one picture. This helps create a sense of depth and makes the animation more interesting. Besides the drawings, you can also add sound to your animations, making them even more fun to watch.
Once you've created your animation, it gets saved as a .KWZ file. These files are usually kept on the SD card of your Nintendo 3DS, inside a specific folder path (/private/Nintendo 3DS/app). This is just the 3DS's way of organizing where different kinds of files should go.
