What is a .LDB file?

When someone opens a database in Microsoft Access, the program automatically creates an LDB file. This file works like a lock, ensuring that only one person can make changes to the database at a time, which prevents any confusion or loss of data that might occur if multiple people were editing the same information simultaneously.
The LDB file also makes sure that when updates are made, they are not accidentally erased or overwritten by someone else. Once the database is closed, Microsoft Access automatically deletes the LDB file, unlocking the database so others can use it later.
