What is a .LIP file?
A .LIP file is a type of image file used specifically in the program called Clip Studio Paint, which is a software application designed for creating manga (Japanese comic books), illustrations, and animations. This file format helps artists save their drawings and projects, which can include different elements like pencil sketches, pen lines, brush strokes, various shapes, text, and other images. These elements are organized in layers, which can be either raster (pixel-based) or vector (line-based) graphics.
The .LIP file is quite versatile as it supports different color models such as RGB (Red, Green, Blue), CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black), and HSV (Hue, Saturation, Value). It also allows the use of layer masks, filters, and other effects to enhance the artwork. This makes it similar to .PSD files, which are used in Adobe Photoshop for similar purposes.
However, it's important to note that the .LIP file format was replaced by the .CLIP file format in version 1.5.4 of Clip Studio Paint. The newer .CLIP format is designed to be lighter and allows for faster loading and saving times compared to the older .LIP format. Despite this change, you can still save projects as .LIP files in newer versions of Clip Studio Paint (from version 1.5.4 onwards), but be aware that once a .LIP file is edited in these newer versions, it cannot be opened in older versions of the software (version 1.4.4 and earlier).
To open a .LIP file, you will need to use Clip Studio Paint Pro or Clip Studio Paint EX, which are both products offered by CELSYS. These programs provide the necessary tools and features to work with .LIP files effectively.
