What is a .MDW file?
An MDW file is a type of file known as an Access Workgroup file. It is specifically used with Microsoft Access, a database management system. The MDW file stores information about the workgroup, which includes a list of user-level credentials such as usernames and passwords. These credentials are important because they determine who can access or edit the database.
The MDW file is associated with older Microsoft Access databases that have the .MDB file extension. However, it's important to note that newer versions of Microsoft Access databases, which use the .ACCDB file extension, do not utilize MDW files anymore.
If you need to open an MDW file, you can do so using Microsoft Access 365. This is a version of Microsoft Access that is included with the Microsoft 365 subscription service. To open the file, you would typically launch Microsoft Access 365, and then open the MDW file through the program's interface, usually found under a menu option like "File" and then "Open."
