What is a .MEP file?
A .MEP file is a type of file known as a Movavi Video Project. It is used specifically with older versions of video editing software from Movavi, namely Movavi Video Editor (up to version 10) and Movavi Video Suite (up to version 14). When you work on a video project using these programs, all the elements you add, such as video clips, images, special effects like transitions, and any specific settings you choose for the project, are saved into a .MEP file. This file format helps you save your work so you can reopen and edit the project later.
However, starting from version 11 of Movavi Video Editor and version 15 of Movavi Video Suite, the .MEP file format was replaced by a new format called .MEPX. This means that newer versions of the software no longer use the .MEP format.
If you need to open a .MEP file, you must use the older versions of Movavi's software — specifically Movavi Video Editor (version 10 or earlier) or Movavi Video Suite (version 14 or earlier). These programs are designed to open, edit, and manage .MEP files effectively. If you try to open a .MEP file with newer versions of the software, it might not work because they use the .MEPX format instead.
