What is a .MVP file?
An MVP file is a special type of file used by MAGIX Movie Studio and Video Pro X, which are programs for editing videos. This file format is known as MAGIX Video Project. When you create a video project in these programs, all the information about the video, such as the clips you use, any changes you make, special effects, titles, and settings, are saved in an MVP file. This file doesn't contain the actual video clips but rather points to them, meaning it keeps a reference to the video files (often .MVD files) that are used in the project.
People use MVP files to work on their video projects over time. Once they are done editing, they can convert or export the MVP file into more common video formats that can be played on various devices, shared online, or burned onto DVDs or Blu-ray discs.
To open an MVP file, you need to have MAGIX Movie Studio or MAGIX Video Pro X installed on your computer. These programs are specifically designed to work with MVP files and allow you to edit and manage your video projects.
It's important to note that another program called Serif MoviePlus used to handle similar project files but was discontinued in 2012 after its last release, version X6. Therefore, it no longer supports new MVP files created with MAGIX software.
