What is a .NFS file?
An NFS file is a special type of file used by the Netflix app, which you can get for both Android and iOS devices. This file is all about subtitles. When you download a movie or a TV show from Netflix to watch offline, the app creates an NFS file. This file has all the subtitles for that movie or show, so you can understand what's being said, even if you're not connected to the internet.
Netflix started letting people download some of their content in December 2016. This was great news for anyone who wanted to watch their favorite movies and shows without needing a constant internet connection. However, not everything on Netflix can be downloaded. You can tell if something is available for download because there will be a little download icon next to its name. If you're looking for things to download, there's even a handy "Available for Download" option in the Netflix menu.
Once you decide on something to download, you just tap the download icon. The Netflix app will then save the movie or show, along with the NFS subtitle file and some other files, right on your device. These files are stored in a specific folder, but you probably won't see them. That's because the Netflix app automatically shows the subtitles with the video, so everything just works without you having to do anything special.
If you ever want to delete a downloaded movie or show from your device, it's pretty easy. On Android, you open the Netflix app, go to "My Downloads," tap the pencil icon, and then hit the red "X" to delete. On iOS, it's almost the same: open the app, go to "My Downloads," tap "Edit," and then the red "X." To make sure you can download content, you need to have a certain version of the Netflix app and your device's operating system. For Android, it's version 4.4.2 or later, and for iOS, it's 8.0 or later. Always make sure you have the latest version of the Netflix app to enjoy this feature.
