What is a .ODM file?
An .ODM file is a special kind of text document that is made using a program called Apache OpenOffice Writer, or similar programs that work with OpenDocument files. Think of it as a big container that holds several smaller text documents inside it, which are called .ODT files. This is useful when you want to combine multiple documents into one big document, like when you're putting together chapters of a book. An .ODM file can also organize these documents with a table of contents and an index, making it easier to navigate through the large document.
To open an .ODM file, you can use several programs, but the most common ones are OpenOffice Writer and LibreOffice. Both of these programs are designed to work with OpenDocument files, so they can easily handle .ODM files. You just need to have one of these programs installed on your computer, and then you can open the .ODM file to view, edit, or manage the documents inside it.
It's important to note that OverDrive, which is another company, used to have an app called Media Console that could open these files, but they don't offer this app anymore. So, your best bet is to stick with OpenOffice Writer or LibreOffice to work with .ODM files.
