.OPDOWNLOAD File Extension

A .OPDOWNLOAD file is a Opera Partially Downloaded File, created by Opera Software.

Open with Opera. Available for Linux, Windows, and Mac.

What is a .OPDOWNLOAD file?

An .OPDOWNLOAD file is a type of file that you might see when you're downloading something using the Opera web browser, but the download hasn't finished yet. Think of it like a bookmark that shows where the download got paused or stopped. This file keeps all the parts of what you're trying to download until it's completely done. But, because it's not fully downloaded, you can't really use it or open it like a normal file.

The only program that works with these .OPDOWNLOAD files is Opera itself, the web browser you were using when the download started. Opera keeps track of these files and tries to finish downloading them when you go back online or when the issue that caused the pause is fixed.

Once Opera successfully finishes the download, it gets rid of the ".opdownload" part at the end of the file name. This is like telling you, "Hey, your download is complete, and you can now use this file!" After this, the file becomes whatever it was supposed to be, like a video, a music file, a document, or any other type of file you were downloading.

If your download gets interrupted and you end up with an .OPDOWNLOAD file, there's a little trick you might try. You can delete the ".opdownload" part from the file name and then try to open it with a program that usually opens that type of file. This doesn't always work, but sometimes you can still get some or all of the information you were downloading.

It's important to know that .OPDOWNLOAD files are similar to other types of files like .CRDOWNLOAD for Google Chrome or .DOWNLOAD for Apple Safari. These also show that a download hasn't finished yet. So, if you see a file like this, it means the download is still in progress or got stopped, and you'll need to wait or try to download it again to get the complete file.
