What is a .PDU file?
A .PDU file is a type of file that contains a multimedia messaging service (MMS) message. These messages are usually taken from a backup file made by an LG phone, which is known as an .LBF file. Think of an .LBF file as a big box where your phone keeps a copy of all your messages and other data safe, and the .PDU file as a smaller box inside it that holds a specific MMS message.
These .PDU files are often found inside .ZIP archives. A .ZIP archive is like a folder on your computer that can hold many files together and make them smaller so they take up less space. To get a .PDU file out of an .LBF file, you would need to use a special tool called a hex editor. A hex editor, such as HxD, lets you see and edit the raw data of any file. It's like having a magnifying glass that lets you see and move around the tiny pieces that make up a file.
However, once you have a .PDU file, opening it and seeing the message inside is not straightforward. As of now, there are no programs specifically designed to open and display the contents of .PDU files directly. This means that even though you can extract these files and have them on your computer, reading the MMS message inside them like you would read a text message on your phone isn't possible with the tools currently available.
