What is a .PK6 file?
A .PK6 file is a type of file used to store information about Pokémon in games from the 6th generation of Pokémon, such as Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, which are played on the Nintendo 3DS. This file contains all the details of a specific Pokémon, including what kind of Pokémon it is, how much experience it has, what abilities it can use, what attacks it knows, and who currently owns it in the game.
These .PK6 files are part of the larger saved game files, which have the extension .SAV. Each Pokémon that you catch and keep in the game has its own .PK6 file within this .SAV file.
To view or modify a .PK6 file, you can use a program called PKHeX. PKHeX allows players to manage their Pokémon collection, including editing their Pokémon's details or transferring Pokémon between save files. This can be useful for organizing your Pokémon or for making adjustments to your game outside of the normal gameplay on the Nintendo 3DS.
