What is a .PMS file?
A .PMS file is a type of file used by the game PlanetMiner, which is a 2D game where players dig and explore different planets. This file saves the progress of the game, including details like the player's score, the current level they are on, how many gems they have collected, how many levels they have completed, and which blocks they have dug up or removed.
The .PMS file is saved in plain text format. This means you can open it with any basic text editing software, like Notepad on Windows or TextEdit on Mac, in addition to opening it with the PlanetMiner game itself. However, it's primarily meant to be used within the game to load and continue your game progress.
When you want to save your game in PlanetMiner, you simply press CTRL+S, and the game will automatically create a file named save.pms in a specific folder on your computer. The location of this folder varies depending on your operating system: - For Windows XP users, the file is saved in C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Application Data\LOVE\planetary\ - For Windows Vista through Windows 10, it's saved in C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\LOVE\planetary\ - On macOS, the file goes into /Users/[user]/Library/Application Support/LOVE/planetary/ - For Linux users, it's either in ~/.local/share/love/planetary/ or in the directory specified by $XDG_DATA_HOME/love/planetary/ It's important to note that PlanetMiner uses only one .PMS file to store all the game progress, so you can't save multiple different games at the same time.
PlanetMiner, developed by Johneda, was released in December 2021 and is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms.
