What is a .R01 file?
An .R01 file is the first part of a larger file that has been divided into several smaller pieces using a program called WinRAR or RAR. This is often done to make a very big file easier to save onto multiple storage devices, like several CDs or USB drives. After the .R01 file, the next parts of the file are named .R02, .R03, and so on, all the way up to .R99 if needed, depending on how big the original file was.
To open an .R01 file, you can use several different programs. One popular option is RARLAB's WinRAR, which is the same program that can create these split archive files. Other programs that can open .R01 files include Corel WinZip, which is another file compression and decompression software; 7-Zip, which is a free and open-source file archiver; RARLAB RAR, which is specifically designed for opening RAR files; and Incredible Bee Archiver, which is a versatile archiving tool for Mac users. These programs allow you to extract the contents of the .R01 file and, if necessary, reassemble the parts of the split archive into the original large file.
