What is a .RCM file?
An RCM file is a special type of file used to store 3D models. These models are not just any 3D models; they are created using a process called reality capture. This means they are made by capturing the real world around us and turning it into a digital 3D model. This can be done in two main ways: by taking lots of pictures from different angles or by using a laser scanner that scans the environment. The software that creates these RCM files is called Autodesk ReCap Pro. It's a powerful tool used by professionals to create detailed 3D models of objects, buildings, or even entire landscapes. Before, there was another program called Autodesk ReMake that also used RCM files, but it's not available anymore.
If you have an RCM file, you need Autodesk ReCap Pro to open it. This program lets you view the 3D model inside the RCM file, make changes to it, or use it for other professional projects. It's specifically designed to work with these types of files, so it's the best tool for the job.
