What is a .RFT file?
The file extension .RFT stands for Revit Family Template File. It is a specific type of document format known as Revisable Form Text (RFT). This format was primarily used by a word processing program called DisplayWrite, which was quite popular and developed by IBM. The .RFT files contain both the text of a document and any graphics data that might be included, such as images or charts. Originally, these files were used on large computer systems known as IBM mainframes, as well as on specific IBM computers called DisplayWriter Systems.
To open a .RFT file, you can use a program called Corel WordPerfect 2021. This software is capable of accessing and displaying the contents of the file, including its text and graphics.
It's important to note that while .RFT files are related to Revit, a software used for building information modeling, they are not the standard file type for saving Revit family files. The standard file extension for Revit family files is .RFA, which stands for Revit Family File. These .RFA files are different from .RFT files and are used for a different purpose within the Revit software.
