What is a .TA7 file?
A .TA7 file is a type of file used for tax returns for the year 2017. It is made using a program called TaxAct 2017, which helps people prepare their taxes. This file includes all the important tax information for that year, like forms for the state you live in and forms for the federal government. It also has personal information like your name, when you were born, if you're married, what you do for work, if you have any children or other dependents, and your social security number.
You can open a .TA7 file using TaxAct, which is available on the web through TaxAct Online. This means you can use TaxAct on your computer or online to work on your taxes.
People usually make a .TA7 file in the year after the tax year it covers, so for 2017 taxes, you'd make this file between January and April 15, 2018. You can create it using TaxAct's software on your computer, or you can start it online with TaxAct Online. If you're using the TaxAct program on your computer, it will save your .TA7 file in a folder called "TaxAct2017" in your "My Documents" folder.
After you finish your tax return, you have two choices: you can print out the forms and mail them, or you can send them electronically. If you're worried about losing your tax return or it getting damaged, you can make a backup. In TaxAct, you go to File, then choose Backup, and give your backup file a name. This creates a .BA7 file, which is a backup of your .TA7 file. Remember, you need to save your tax return before you make a backup.
It's also good to know that the .TA7 file is the newer version of the .TA6 file, which was for 2016 tax returns made with the 2016 version of TaxAct.
