This program was made for making movies in the DivX format, which is a popular way to compress videos so they don't take up as much space but still look good. With DivX Author, you could create these DVD-like movies by using templates saved as .TDA3MT files. This made it easier to design your DVD menus without starting from scratch.
However, it's important to know that DivX Author, the program that opens these files, isn't available anymore. But if you had made a DivX DVD using a .TDA3MT file for the menu, you could still play it. These DVDs can be played on any device that supports DivX, but only specific devices and older versions of DivX Player (version 9 and below) can actually show the menus created with .TDA3MT files. On newer devices or other players, the DVD will still play, but it will skip the custom menu and go straight to playing the movie or video content.
