The .TGC file contains specific parts of a scene, called nodes. These nodes can include various elements like surface shaders or complex terrains. Essentially, nodes are small, separate pieces of a larger scene that can be saved individually and then added to other projects easily.
This file format is particularly useful because it allows users to save specific features of a scene and reuse them in different projects without having to recreate them from scratch each time. For example, if you have created a detailed mountain terrain or a unique atmospheric effect, you can save these as a .TGC file and then insert them into any new project.
To create a .TGC file in Terragen, you would typically right-click on an element of your scene, such as objects, water, or atmosphere. Then, you choose the option "Save Nodes as Clip File...". After that, you can name your .TGC file, select where you want to save it, and click "Save".
When you want to use a .TGC file in a project, you can add it by going to the "File" menu, selecting "Insert Clip File...", and then navigating to where your .TGC file is stored. After finding the file, you click "Open" to add it to your scene. Alternatively, you can right-click on different parts of your scene, like cameras or lighting, choose "Insert Clip File...", find your .TGC file, and then click "Open".
