What is a .TIB file?

A .TIB file is a type of computer file known as an Acronis True Image File. This file is essentially a complete copy of everything stored on a computer's hard disk. It is created using a program called Acronis True Image. The purpose of a .TIB file is to allow a user to restore their computer's hard disk contents exactly as they were at the time of backup, which is very useful if the computer stops working properly or if the data on the disk is lost or damaged.

The .TIB file can be a standalone backup, meaning it contains all the data needed to restore the disk, or it can be part of a series of incremental backups. Incremental backups are smaller files that save changes made since the last backup, rather than backing up everything again.

To open a .TIB file, you can use several programs developed by Acronis, including Acronis Cyber Backup and Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office. Another program that can open .TIB files is VMware vCenter Converter, which is used for converting different types of disk images.

It's important to note that starting from the 2020 version of Acronis True Image, now renamed to Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office as of September 2021, some large backups are saved with the .TIBX extension instead of .TIB. However, older .TIB files can still be opened and used with the newer software versions.
